After a 50 minutes transfer to the base of Cerro Negro Volcano you will start your first hike following a rocky path on a threeless slope across 5 little craters. After enjoying superbs views from the top you will practice volcano boarding on the opposite slope taking just a few minutes te get back to the bottom.

Before starting your second hike, you can take a few moments to eat lunch and use the facilities at the Visitor Centre located between the two volcanoes. After that a new trail will led you through some dense pockets of dry forest from where you’ll have views of Cerro Negro to enjoy soon enough, it is really nice to see it from afar. Shortly after you will ascend more sharply towards the summit of Volcan El Hoyo and be able to have cracking views of other neighboring volcanoes.

From campsite situated near the Summit you will go exploring two massive holes and an amazing steaming fumarole at the very top while enjoying the sunset golden hour. There is not facilities at camp, but this Nicaragua camping spot is so beautifully perched, that you’ll forget all about it. Besides, there’s nothing like wild camping to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature.

On day 2 you will continues the adventure hiking 4 more hours down hill in the opposite direction toward the Asososca volcanic lagoon where you will end up swimming with a great view of two super volcanoes.

The lagoon is just a stone’s throw away from Leon. So, after you’ve hiked and swimed, it’s just a short drive back to civilisation.
