MOMOTOMBO VOLCANO's LOOKOUTs

This half-day adventure gives you the opportunity to explore and photograph the famous and impressive Momotombo volcano along with its spectacular surroundings.

This is the fifth tallest volcano and certainly one of the hardest to climb in Nicaragua, however you will be able to reach the lookout spots located half way up first by jeep and then by foot  avoiding the really difficult sections. The 4×4 up hill drive as well as hiking on a huge black surface and the extraordinary views together will bring a lifetime experience.

Our trip begins with a 50 minutes transfer to the shores of Managua Lake where we swich cars and then go arround the lake towards the reserve check point. After signing a book we’ll turn out into 4×4 mode and drive up for 30 minutes on a steep norrow road  across a tropical forest.

The hike start at 450 meters above sea level and takes approximately 3 hours up and down always on the easier and safer part of the volcano so don’t need to be super fit.

This is a moderate level hike suitable for anyone including children from 5 years of age. No great physical condition is required, just bring a dose of passion for adventure.

On the way back to Leon we will stop at a town near by where you will be able to taste a typical snack and drink.
